We are holding conversations with like-minded folks (no party identification) on how we can, as individuals and as a group, be pro-active in the days and months ahead. By airing our concerns, informing each other, finding ways we can step up and step out, and supporting each other in our endeavors, we can make a difference to ourselves and in the political landscape. ~Carol Pope and Andy Overstreet

I think there may be some truth to this notion. I have a friend who keeps reminding us, however, that so much of the media frenzy and Trump's behavior about ANYTHING are diversionary tactics, designed to take our attention away from the very real policy concerns and Bannon(et al)'s power-grab. So I'm trying (with different success on different days) to stay away from all the screaming and ranting and stay focused on the issues...as best I can. In other words, I'm trying to keep it personal. That is not to be dismissive of the question that you pose...not at all. It's just my take. I have gotten to the point that I don't "share" any article from even "my sources" if they have a picture of him on the lead. Even though it IS about him, I'm trying to say to myself that it is NOT about HIM! Besides that, I feel nauseous when I see his face and almost puke when I hear his voice.
ReplyDeleteJane, not surprisingly, you and I have the same visceral response to Trump's face and voice.
DeleteAnd Wilbur Ross just got confirmed. He is part owner of a Greek bank that is known to launder lots of Russian money. So many people around Trump who stand to get richer being cozy with Putin
ReplyDeleteAurelia...you pose a provocative point! If I allow myself, I find I'm entering "conspiracy land," and I find it extremely disconcerting. Let me count the ways...Putin/Russia, ACA repeal, henchmen appointments, the presence of demonic Bannon in my White House, the accusations of Obama, the message (stated and unstated) on education, things I'm continuing to see about Trump's comments about women, minorities, etc....AND issues of immigration (I mean really...I'm brought up short by my own weird "sigh of relief" with the "new" ban (BUT I catch myself to see it's still a ban and UnAmerican), etc., etc., etc. I'm back to dreaming/nightmares about Trump...SO I'm with you, Risa and Jane, about the appearance of "the face" anywhere. I'm inconsolable that this person is president of my country.
